What is a globe valve?
A Globe valve is a multi-turn valve that is installed in the pipeline for regulating flow in a partially open position in small-size piping. It is not recommended to be used for an on-off valve for big sizes or high pressure as the fluid is against the disc and it will make the operation torque. It contains a movable disc(plug) actuated by the stem and a seat ring welded/pressed to the body. The seat of a globe valve is in the middle of and parallel to the pipe.

Features of Globe Valves
A long working life is ensured as compared to the gate valve, it has shorter stem travel so less wear happens to the seats. The seats are normally metal with hard facing(stellite CoCrW or SS Overlay). It can also be a soft seat for specified services like water.
